3 km and counting
So I started today. On my way to running 5km! I started at 9 am and ran 3km, my legs are killing me now, but I guess I shouldn’t complain. I’m actually really excited about the hope that Ill be able to run 5 km before snowfall so I can train all winter for a 10km race in the spring. I really just want to wear a bib and cross a finish line. Trust me I know I wont be WINNING any races, I just want to be in one. That's not too much to expect is it?

alright already!
Okay so someone complained that I haven’t posted anything in a while...So sorry my life is too boring for anything worth a posting! Hear the sarcasm? Anyway, here’s what’s been going on...
I had another interview, that totally bombed!!! Well really, they had already picked the person they were going to hire because the questions they asked me were really dry and the principal just listed the question wrote one comment about my answers and then moved onto the next question. They had no interest in getting to know me or what I had done in the past. They hadn’t even looked at my resume. So that was a big waste of time, although I did get to practice my interview skills which is always a bonus.
Last night I went to the blue jays game. Amazing seats, 12th row from the field. All the fowl balls were flying over our heads; we were worried that one was going to hit us. But I must admit after my two giant game beers I wasn’t really worried about anything! I just love going to live sports events, the beer somehow tastes better when your watching a sports game, doesn’t it?
Also today Pops and I are going to check out some used cars that his buddy is selling. He owns a car dealership and is selling all the cars off cheap! I’m hoping I can find something to suit me for now. I just need wheels to get me around for supply teaching (when that gets started!) and then in a year or two, when I have an income of some kind, I can afford to get the car I want. But this is all talk as of now, so I'll find out this afternoon if there is anything worth test driving. Ill keep you up to date on it all.
Grad is coming up soon. I’m getting excited to dress up, put on a cap and gown and see all the people from my program. It’s been awhile now since we’ve seen each other. I think I might have to buy a new dress too *sincker* poor, poor me.
So that’s it as of now.

Im Baaaack!
Okay so Im back in the land of the living and my little stint into insane-ville is over. Yes I can go down hard...but lucky for me I have padding to bounce back with.
So new attitude and a new blog look. Im done with it all. No more living less. I want to live MORE. Live the most I can while I can, when I have no real commitments. My life should be fan-freaking-tasic, and so it shall be.
I am on a mission. And by the little hair on my chinny chin chin no one better stop in my way. Of course unless they are stopping in for a visit, you know how I love visits, all kinds of visits.
The least I can say is thanks for the sock pulling Jar, Te extraño.
And so today's quote is in honor of your visit and your leaving...again.
A true friend never gets in your way unless you happen to be going down
xoxo

Maybe it would help
Okay so maybe a hug would help. I feel like I should reply to what I wrote yesterday. Not to worry there is no serious depression happening...just vague not happy in my life right now depression, you know the normal, almost 30, what the hell am I doing, kind of depression.
It’s just so strange not living my own life and trying to figure out what I want that life to be. All in all, a work in progress. Sometimes I guess I hit the bumps in the road and the feeling of having no control of my life right now intensifies those bumps to the point where I see them as mountains and I’m alone trying to climb up and over them.
metaphor, metaphor, metaphor blah. Whatever, I’m just trying to say that is life is messy, and when you need to work out what the hell your doing sometimes it hits you hard that you have no idea, clue or plan of where it’s going.
I like to at least have a bit of a plan and right now...I’ve got nadda.
That’s why you need to have friends fly in (literally) to save you and to help you talk it all out. Jaret arrived yesterday and I must tell I’ve never been so happy to hear from someone. It was a total surprise and it couldn’t have come at a better time. Ill keep you posted on my life plans, once I come up with some!

Single....sucks
I’m most likely having my last weekend off for a while and I’m sitting at home wasting it. My friend that lives around here goes away on the weekends to visit her boyfriend. If I want to go downtown to hang out I need to crash there and that causes couch surfering plans which seem too difficult to plan out, plus I have to get there somehow. And besides if I do go out with the girls downtown they all have boyfriends that they are more interested in hanging out with and I end up being the tag along single friend, which I am starting to HATE being.
God who would have thought coming home would lead to a decline in a social life. I was always thinking I was coming home to a great group of friends that I couldn’t wait to see. But in reality, people have lives; they have busy lives and most of the time I’m just crashing in on them making their lives my own. Living with the parents and working this stupid part time job feels like I’m living a non-life. I’m in such a weird, unfriendly, lonely, unwanted part of my life right now. Nothing I do is what I want to do. I don’t have friends that I can play with whenever or that are willing to go on adventures. To tell you the truth I am just so damn bored with it all. I never do anything fun. I work, I sleep, and I live at my parent’s house. Doing anything on the weekend means I do it alone as there is no one that lives near me, on the weekends at least.
God I sound depressed don’t I? Well I guess I am. I’m in a rut and I hate it. I’ve been living someone else’s life for too long now. I wish I could get out of it...but it’s hard to get out of when all you have is yourself and your mom's car. Blah...Ill be in a better mood next time I swear, I hope. See what Mississauga does to a person! Man, I need to get out of here.

Did you call?
What's that you're sick? You need a supply teacher? Here I come to the rescue...dum da da!!!
Yes yes, no need to cheer, I know its exciting. You have heard right. I had an interview and I am now at the very least on the supply list. Who knows there are still 2 weeks left before school starts so I could still get a full time or at least a term of full time. But my god I'm just happy to be on the supply list.
And before you ask, yes I'm still working at goodlife too. Hopefully that will only be for part time come Sept. But as for now things are pretty sweet.
A little less stress on my shoulders that for sure.

Our lives as kids
TO ALL THE KIDS WHO WERE BORN IN THE
1930's 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's !!
First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they carried us.
They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can, and didn't get tested for diabetes.
Then after that trauma, our baby cribs were covered with bright colored lead-based paints.
We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets, not to mention, the risks we took hitch hiking .
As children, we would ride in cars with no seat belts or air bags.
Riding in the back of a pick up on a warm day was always a special treat.
We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle.
We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE actually died from this.
We ate cupcakes, white bread and real butter and drank soda pop with sugar in it, but we weren't overweight because......
WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING!!
We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on.
No one was able to reach us all day. And we were O.K.
We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem .
We did not have Playstations, Nintendo's, X-boxes, no video games at all, no 99 channels on cable, no video tape movies, no surround sound, no cell phones, no personal computers, no Internet or Internet chat rooms..........WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!
We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents .
We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever.
We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays,
made up games with sticks and tennis balls and although we were told it would happen, we did not put out very many eyes.
We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just yelled for them!
Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!!
The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law!
This generation has produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever!
The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.
We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned
HOW TO DEAL WITH IT ALL!
And YOU are one of them!
CONGRATULATIONS!
You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids, before the lawyers and the government regulated our lives for our own good.
Aren't you proud that we actually lived through it all?
Kind of makes you want to run through the house with scissors, doesn't it?!

Got it!

I got the job. I’ll be working reception at Good Life Gym. Free gym membership, hot guys, and no responsibilities, sounds like the perfect job doesn’t it? I’m really only excited about the free membership perk and the fact that this unimportant job is going to be fun and easy. They wanted me to take a sales position and then move up through management (god knows why) But I turned them down and said I really only wanted reception where I could greet people and take it easy and the two managers that interviewed me were fine with it. I think they were just excited that I wasn’t 16 and I had a ton of experience, both work and life. They even gave me $1.00 raise before I even started. Tuesday is my start date - training day really, so after that I’ll have an idea of what I’ve really gotten myself into.
So this is my last weekend of freedom I’m sure, I'm hanging in TO and my flat mate from oz is coming up to visit. Then on Sunday I'm going to hit the Beaches Jazz festival with Ken and some friends. Last night I went to a charity art auction and then had drinks at the Drake hotel. The Drake is definitely a cool place, I didn’t see anyone famous but it was fun people watching anyway. This is going to be a weekend of Toronto fun, just the way I like it!

Life as I know it!
Phew, a lot has been going on for a girl like me, with no job and living with the folks.
Life is picking up pace and I’m happy to be running in it. I have a job interview on Monday with Good life. Can you believe it? Me, working at a gym? I’m mostly happy about the free membership perk. Hey, Ill even work for free if I get a membership. It’s worth the cost of the dame thing. So I'm guessing I’m going to be super hot and majorly in shape come Sept when my new life starts *grin*
So I hope this job pans out, not that I can offer them many hours or anything but hey who could resist me? Besides if my hours wont work for them I have another job I’m going for at a clothing store (50% off for employees would really help with my new teacher wardrobe that I have to buy!)
And, I have a lead on a fab apt in High Park, although I think the landlord is a real jerk (only joking Tommy boy) so maybe that would work out and my life would be happy and fun again. Plus, I’m trying to get a good deal on a car.
So lets see if I can sum up this weeks events for you……
1. Job interview at gym to get great new in-shape hot bod (oh, and make a little cash)
2. Possible apt in the west end - which I love - with my best bud
3. I got a NEW phone for $58, to buy it at a store is $250, thank you weird guy in Waterloo! He wanted $120 for it but I got it for $60, however I only had $58 on me so he took that! What a bargain - we just have to unlock it so I can put in a sim card and get it working
4. I need to get my new car sorted so I can actually make it to the west end!
So nothing has happened yet, but I have a major drive to make some cash now so I can move out, and get the car, and pay for the new phone!
All I need now is a job for September teaching with a huge salary and ill be happy as a peach. Everyone cross your fingers for me!

They say its my birthday

Well it's happened. 29 years old and living at the parent's house. One year to go before I shrivel up and die as a spinster.
It’s strange being home for my birthday this year. When you’re living away from home birthdays and such feel like such a big deal. Then when you are home, they, well they aren’t as important.
I miss the parties being thrown for me, and tons of people coming to them who are just happy to have an excuse to party.
Ah well, Happy Birthday to me. Spinsterhood here I come!

Circus Time

Colleen, Eddie and I went to check out the Shrine Circus on Canada day. It was fun minus all the sacry old man clowns. i dont know when or where I developed a fear of clowns but my heart starts to race and I jump a foot in the air if they come near me or Lord help me they TALK to me. So besides me hiding behind Eddie all night I had fun. Something a little different to do when your stuck in the 'Sauga.

Pride Week

I went to my first ever pride day. God what fun! Tom and I went down and enjoyed the people watching...I mean parade watching. Then we met up with Dave, Kenny and well a bunch of people including Sarah and Gus from Taiwan. We had a number of drinks and headed out to Church Street. The beer gardens were wonderful darling! Lots more drinks and dancing and watching the make-outs happening around us...."Red card, You're outta here!"
All in all a fun, crazy, different day. Im glad I went.

Hanging in the Big City

Since I’ve finished my thesis, and all the school work is behind me, I’ve been REALLY busy, doing nothing!
No really, I’ve been getting my applications together, working on my resume and trying to volunteer. But mostly, I’ve been trying to catch up with friends I haven’t truly hung out with in ages.
I’m in the heart of the city right now and got the full T. dot tour yesterday. I mean it, I’ve traveled around a ton of places in the world, mostly where English is not the first language, and yet I still have drama on the subway here! The street car driver actually got out of the car and walked me to where I had to wait for my transfer, then he told the guy where I needed to go and said he would take care of me. (grin) I asked him how he knew I wasn’t from here and the guy laughed and said “honey your smile gave you away as soon as you got on, you’re too nice to be from here” I just laughed at the fact that I’m 28 and 11 ½ months old and this guy was walking me up Queen to be sure I didn’t get lost. I even crack myself up at the stuff that happens to me.
So this mission I was on last night, I made it from the west end, to the east end for dinner, to right downtown for drinks with another group of friends, to back in the west end knocking on the door at 1 am to let me in to crash! What good friends I have to put up with my wanderings!!!
I still need to see a couple more folks and I feel like I’m slowly getting back into it. My fav part of being back here is the fact that I never have to say goodbye to people again…I can truthfully say “Ill see you again soon”
I can’t tell you how good that feels.

Im done!!!
Sweet relief, the thesis is done! My shit is all over my parent's house, and i have been sleeping for the last 2 days straight. God stress really takes you for a spin doesnt it? 2 weeks of not sleeping and working on this paper has worked me over so now my body has shut down.
But now, now i have a new mission...work!
i need cash, i need a plan, and i need to get out of my parent's hair. There isnt even room for me to unpack, Im living out of my suitcases which are in the middle of the living room!
It amazing how much space a person needs. Well we will have to see what happens. Im thinking a car should be high on my list of needs right away. There's so much to do when setting up a life again, but this time im doing it with no money...hmmmmm this is going to be interesting!
